Necklace. December 2019.

Sterling silver and yarn blend (alpaca, merino, silk). Silver was coiled and hammered using an anvil and hammer. Some sections were annealed to prevent the coiled from not laying flat. Yarn was bought in a natural white and was dyed red using and acid dye. Design elements are Alexander Calder’s though this combination is unique. I was inspired to create this necklace after observing the conservation treatments of many of Calder’s jewelry works.

Candied Lemon Spikes. 2015

A silicone, food-grade, mold was made from found railroad spike. A lemon flavored hard candied was then cast and the stickiness of the candy held them in place on the sheet metal.

Back Bench. Fall 2014.

Cement, cement sealer, black acrylic. Made during a sculpture II casting course.

Using a friends back, I made a dam with clay in order to pour Alja-Safe; a mold making material for life castings. Mold was then cut to fit into a plastic box and edges were again sealed using clay. A smaller plastic box was used to fit inside the other to create a hollow cavity to make a lighter bench. Mold-release was used. Once dried the bench was painted with a black stripe along the bottom.

Three Windows. Spring 2015

Photographs of the current landscape were mounted on sheets of metal. The sheets of metal were hammered into the earth so that along the path through the field the photographs would align with the landscape. The photographs were coating so that this installation could be viewed year round.

18 February 2015. 2015

The lights and sounds that I experienced on that day were either recorded or taken (temporarily) and collected in this one box. The audience is able to hear the overlapping sounds of walking about campus, talking to friends and professors, the cash register from work and trumpet practice. The lights of the rooms that I visited that day were borrowed for this installation.
